Inner Child Healing & Shadow Work
Transformative sessions focused on healing deep-rooted emotional wounds, reconnecting with your inner child and integrating your shadow self.
Some difficulties in adult life are older than the situation that triggered them. A reaction that feels out of proportion to what just happened is often proportionate to something much earlier.
This work goes toward those earlier places — not to relive them, but to understand what they taught you and how those lessons still run. The parts of yourself you've learned to hide, dislike or push down get looked at rather than managed.
It asks more of you than a general session, and it moves at whatever pace you set.
Who this is for
- You keep repeating a pattern you can see clearly but can't stop
- Your reactions sometimes feel much bigger than the thing that caused them
- There are parts of yourself you'd rather not look at directly
- You've done some therapy already and want to go further back
What happens in a session
- 1
We start with the pattern as it shows up now, in your present life
- 2
Your psychologist helps trace it back to where it was first learned
- 3
You look at what that younger part of you needed and didn't get
- 4
The work is on meeting that need now, as an adult, rather than re-living the past
What you might take from it
- An understanding of where a reaction actually comes from
- Less shame about a part of yourself you've been managing quietly
- A different relationship with a memory that hasn't changed
- More choice at the moment a pattern usually takes over
Good to know
This work can bring up strong feeling, sometimes after the session rather than during it. That's normal, and worth telling your psychologist about. If you're currently in crisis, or dealing with something very recent and raw, a general therapy session is usually the better place to begin — we'll say so if that's our read.
